چکیده

The demand for a centrifugal pump with open impellers conveying dense fine particles in solid-liquid two-phase flow has increased significantly actual engineering. wear of on the is also exceedingly prominent, which affects engineering efficiency and economic benefits. three-dimensional unsteady; movement high-volume concentration its mutual influence flow, results calculation wear, are very intricate. To study characteristics impeller more accurately, numerical simulation experimental comparison carried out transported by impellers. Considering relationship between walls, we used Fluent 18.0 built-in rebound function model. RNG k-ε model DDPM were adopted simulation, solution was performed under rate (9.6 m3·h−1, 12.8 16 19.2 m3·h−1), different particle sizes (0.048 mm, 0.106 0.15 0.27 0.425 mm), volume concentrations (10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%), respectively. By comparing serious positions impeller, correspond well can be to predict impeller. show that most area blade middle part pressure surface, followed upper blade. greatly affected relevant parameters, such as rate, diameter, concentration. These provide some basis wear-resistant design

Assessment of Wear Erosion in Pump Impellers

Wear erosion needs special attention in pump design as it can lead to severe damage of the pump and restrict its lifetime significantly. It therefore determines to a large extent the selection of a pump. During the design process it is essential to accurately predict possible erosion in pumps, adapt the design and select a proper material to minimize and prevent erosion. Particle parameters lik...

Performance Improvements of a Centrifugal Pump with Different Impellers using Polymer Additive

In this study, the performance of a centrifugal pump is investigated by adding polyacrylamide (PAM) polymer over the working fluid which is tap water in this case. PAM is a long chain polymer that leads to reduce the wall shear stress and drag in a turbulent fluid. Three different blade profiles including radial, straight backward and circular backward have been examined. For this purpose, a ce...

Assessing Liquid Droplet Erosion Potential in Centrifugal Compressor Impellers

This paper presents a method for estimating the potential for liquid droplet erosion in compression system components, such as the impeller of centrifugal compressors. The erosion model selected is used to calculate a threshold velocity that represents the limit for the onset of erosion damage. The parameters used in the model include the liquid phase density and viscosity, impeller geometry, s...

Comparison of the hyperbolic range of two-fluid models on two-phase gas -liquid flows

In this paper, a numerical study is conducted in order to compare hyperbolic range of equations of isotherm two-fluid model governing on two-phase flow inside of pipe using conservative Shock capturing method. Differential equations of the two-fluid model are presented in two forms (i.e. form I and form II). In forms I and II, pressure correction terms are hydrodynamic and hydrostatic, respecti...

Liquid - Solid Phase Transition of the System with Two particles in a Rectangular Box

We study the statistical properties of two hard spheres in a two dimensional rectangular box. In this system, the relation like Van der Waals equation loop is obtained between the width of the box and the pressure working on side walls. The autocorrelation function of each particle’s position is calculated numerically. By this calculation near the critical width, the time at which the correlati...
